Kathleen Avins is a music therapist, writer, composer, and performing artist. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in music therapy from Temple University in Philadelphia, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in music therapy at Temple; she also holds a B.A. in psychology from Rutgers University. She has completed a post-graduate advanced training program in Vocal Psychotherapy with Dr. Diane Austin. Kat has also received training in music therapy entrainment for pain management, and has completed teacher training in the Music Together program.
Kat is a passionate vocalist with experience in a variety of musical styles, from classical to contemporary. As a singer-songwriter, she is strongly influenced by the richly diverse artists who identify as folk musicians, but Kat also is committed to maintaining wide-open ears that willingly, joyfully explore any musical sounds that cross her path.
